Major road investment to benefit Woking Business Park

Woking Business Park is set to benefit from a major £4 million infrastructure project that will see the construction, in 2013, of a new access road built from Monument Road to the entrance of the business park, providing occupiers with improved access to the A320, Chertsey Road, and beyond.

The new Sheerwater access road has been given the green light by Woking Borough Council which approved the implementation of the new road, and the associated traffic management measures, that will remove the need to navigate the narrow one-way system and the predominantly residential streets which is currently in operation.

Construction of the £4m link road will commence in February and the road will open the following October and when completed will direct traffic from the north and west straight to Woking Business Park, significantly reducing overall peak hour congestion.

The works will further enable economic growth opportunities for the Woking area and will help the business park and Sheerwater to become a focal point for a supplier driven, advanced engineering cluster, promoted in conjunction with McLaren Group.

Speaking about the new road Gary Elson, Woking Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: "This will give the people of Sheerwater, both businesses and residents, improved access and equally importantly provide the opportunity for over 300 new jobs for local people."

Richard Newsam of Curchod & Co, joint letting agent for Woking Business Park, added: "The new access road will be of great benefit to businesses in the area. Occupiers at Woking Business Park will be able to get to and from the scheme without the need to pass through narrow residential streets and it will provide reduced journey times for staff, visitors and suppliers."
